Business Development Manager

Hobart, TAS

Build a Territory. Lead Growth. Make Your Mark.

We are a growing business based in Hobart and seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to establish and grow our presence in Southern Tasmania.

This is not a traditional sales role with an existing customer base. You'll be responsible for developing the territory from the ground up—identifying opportunities, winning new business, building strong customer relationships, and creating a sustainable sales pipeline.

About the Role

As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving growth throughout Southern Tasmania while helping establish our operations in Hobart.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing a territory growth strategy.

  • Identifying and securing new business opportunities.

  • Building strong relationships with key decision-makers across a range of industries.

  • Generating new customer accounts and developing long-term partnerships.

  • Conducting market and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities.

  • Maintaining an active sales pipeline and providing regular activity reporting.

  • Representing the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.

  • Working independently while collaborating closely with the national sales team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven success in business development and new account acquisition.

  • Experience building a customer base, territory, or market from the ground up.

  • Strong prospecting, networking, and relationship-building skills.

  • A genuine passion for winning new business.

  • A track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • High levels of initiative, resilience, and self-motivation.

  • The ability to work autonomously and manage a large geographic territory.

  • Operational or depot management experience will also be viewed favourably.

What's on Offer

  • Opportunity to play a key role in launching and growing a new territory.

  • High level of autonomy and ownership.

  • Support from an established national business.

  • Long-term career growth opportunities.

  • Company vehicle and tools of trade (where applicable).

If you're a driven business development professional looking for an opportunity to build something meaningful and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
