Join a highly specialized ICT team supporting our Federal Government client as a Senior Medical Systems ICT Service Operations Officer (EL1 equivalent) on an initial 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options.
Based in Tasmania , this unique role allows you to make a direct operational impact by ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, 24/7 clinical and telemedical services across corporate headquarters, remote field facilities, and operational research vessels.
Systems Integration: Design and deliver digital health system integrations connecting specialized clinical environments with broader department ICT platforms and screening applications.
Cybersecurity & Risk Support: Conduct comprehensive health cybersecurity risk assessments, review vendor solutions, implement secure system enhancements, and coordinate penetration testing activities.
Infrastructure & Network Administration: Configure and support secure network traffic, Wi-Fi, LANs, switches, firewalls, and specialized telehealth/remote video conferencing solutions across diverse geographical footprints.
Data & Application Management: Maintain medical record data integrity, manage database recovery operations, perform scripting/programming troubleshooting, and execute major software upgrades.
Operational Monitoring & Triage: Monitor clinical applications in a live operational environment, performing rapid fault triage and corrective actions to minimize downtime before escalating to external vendors.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with internal technical teams, vendors, and cross-functional operational stakeholders to drive digital health efficiency projects.
To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:
Technical Toolkit: Deep knowledge of secure health messaging technologies and standards including HL7, FHIR, and DICOM , experience with integration engines (e.g., Mirth Connect) , Microsoft SQL Server , and core network infrastructure (VLANs, Firewalls).
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years' experience providing ICT integration and technical support services within an operational, clinical health systems environment.
Core Capabilities: Proven capability in executing cybersecurity assessments , implementing database recovery processes , and diagnosing/resolving complex application faults under operational pressures.
Education: A tertiary degree or diploma in ICT, data science, or a scientific discipline (or equivalent professional capability demonstrated through a data-focused career history).
Security Clearance: Must hold an active Australian Government Baseline security clearance, or have the clear ability to successfully acquire and maintain one.
