About the Role

We are seeking an outstanding educator and leader to join our team as Learning Leader 9–12 English, commencing January 2027.

This permanent full-time leadership position is responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation and review of the English curriculum across Years 9–12. The role combines exemplary classroom teaching with faculty leadership, supporting teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences that inspire student engagement, achievement and growth.

Working closely with senior leaders and colleagues, the successful candidate will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement while ensuring students are challenged, supported and empowered to achieve their personal best.

 

Key Focus Areas

• Lead and develop the English curriculum across Years 9–12.
• Support excellence in teaching, learning and assessment practices.
• Mentor, coach and support teachers within the faculty.
• Drive curriculum innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor student achievement data and implement strategies to enhance outcomes.
• Lead faculty planning, meetings and professional learning activities.
• Collaborate with school leaders on curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements.
• Manage faculty resources, budgeting and operational priorities.
• Promote student wellbeing, engagement and academic success.
• Build strong partnerships with students, families and the wider educational community.
• Stay informed of contemporary educational research and best practice in English education.
• Contribute positively to whole-school leadership and strategic initiatives.

 

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education and English or a related field.
• Current teacher registration, or eligibility for registration, in Tasmania.
• Demonstrated experience as an outstanding secondary English teacher.
• Proven leadership experience within a curriculum or faculty setting.
• Strong knowledge of Years 7–12 curriculum and assessment frameworks.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support teaching teams.
• Experience using data to inform teaching practice and improve student outcomes.
• Commitment to child safety, student wellbeing and pastoral care.
• Strong ICT skills and experience using learning management systems.
• Ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with staff, students and families.
