Project Officer

Hobart, Tasmania | 2-Year Fixed-Term Contract

Are you an organised and proactive project professional who enjoys coordinating activities, engaging stakeholders and keeping projects on track?

NECA Education & Careers is seeking a Project Officer to support the delivery of a major strategic workforce and training initiative in Tasmania. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will play a critical role in coordinating project activities, maintaining project documentation, supporting stakeholder engagement and ensuring successful implementation outcomes.

About the Role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Officer will provide project coordination and administrative support across a major strategic project and associated implementation activities.

You will act as a central point of coordination, helping maintain project momentum, supporting communication across stakeholders and ensuring project information is accurate, accessible and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination
  • Support the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules and action registers

  • Coordinate project meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement activities

  • Track milestones, deliverables and key actions

  • Monitor project progress and escalate issues or risks as required

  • Assist in coordinating activities across internal teams and external stakeholders

Administration and Reporting
  • Maintain project documentation, records and filing systems

  • Prepare agendas, minutes and action logs

  • Assist with project reporting, presentations and status updates

  • Support data collection, analysis and reporting activities

  • Ensure project documentation remains current and accessible

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build productive working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Support communication, consultation and engagement activities

  • Coordinate workshops, forums and stakeholder meetings

  • Respond to project enquiries and information requests

Implementation and Financial Support
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, training sessions and project events

  • Support evaluation and continuous improvement activities

  • Assist with purchase orders, invoices and expenditure tracking

  • Support vendor coordination and contract administration activities

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience providing project coordination, administration or project support services

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to build positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment

  • Experience preparing reports, meeting papers and project communications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, Education or a related discipline; or equivalent experience

  • Experience supporting projects within education, training, community, government or industry sectors is highly regarded

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams

Essential:

  • Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employee) or ability to obtain
