We're looking for a collaborative and proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our People and Safety team based at Springfield Depot in Moonah.

This is a newly created role, offering the opportunity to influence meaningful change across a diverse operational environment while helping shape a culture where people feel safe, supported and empowered to do their best work.


About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you'll partner with leaders and employees across Metro to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Metro's health, safety and wellbeing systems and initiatives.

You'll provide trusted advice, build capability across the business and help drive practical safety outcomes that support both our people and operational performance.

Key responsibilities include

  • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of Metro's WHS systems, policies and procedures.
  • Providing advice and coaching to leaders and employees on health, safety and wellbeing matters.
  • Conducting investigations, inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Supporting the delivery of safety and wellbeing projects and initiatives across Metro.
  • Coordinating WHS Committees and supporting Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Developing and delivering WHS and wellbeing training programs.
  • Building strong relationships with operational teams, unions, leadership groups and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing reports, analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making and compliance outcomes.

This role will involve travel between Metro depots and operational sites across Tasmania as required.

Skills, Experience and What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll bring a practical, people-focused approach together with strong communication and relationship-building skills.

You will ideally have

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher qualification in WHS.
  • Experience working in a health, safety and wellbeing advisory role within a complex operational environment.
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, systems, incident management and risk management practices.
  • Strong investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to influence, coach and support stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and positive cultural change initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • A tertiary qualification in WHS or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
