The Safety and Quality Officer works as part of the wider Clinical Systems team for Ambulance Tasmania (AT). This team provides functions including clinical and professional practice, clinical governance, innovation and research, safety and quality, medical care planning and pharmacy services for the organisation. In conjunction, this role works closely with Ambulance Tasmania's Education and Clinical Support team, and operational business units.

The Role

• Coordinate AT's patient safety processes, risk management systems, and clinical improvement initiatives to prevent harm, reduce errors, and minimize adverse patient outcomes through collaborative, evidence-based approaches.
• Provide expert clinical advice, leadership, support and recommendations to the Director - Clinical Services and AT Executive in relation to the patient safety related practices, policies, and procedures.
• Manage the development, implementation, and review of patient safety related clinical practices, policies, and procedures across the organisation to facilitate the planning of a proactive, integrated, and innovative approach to patient/client safety, risk management and quality improvement.

You will need

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of ambulance specific quality improvement processes and concepts of best practice in contemporary patient safety management systems including understanding and experience in patient information and data protection principles.
• Broad clinical and operational experience within a complex health care environment, with demonstrated understanding of quality assurance processes within the Ambulance service context to achieve patient safety.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate staff and patient safety incidents, including analysing data, providing reports and progress outcomes, and managing clinical audits, reviews and compliance systems for patient safety.

Details of appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary

$122,145 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

• Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia
• Holds a Bachelor of Paramedic Science or other qualification approved by the Service and relevant work experience.

• Current Driver’s Licence
• Relevant qualification in Safety and/or Patient Safety
