Band 4 Assistant Accountant – Assets

Your new company 
Hays is proud to be partnering with a Tasmanian Government organisation to recruit an experienced Financial Analyst with a strong background in asset accounting for an initial 3-month temporary assignment, with the potential for extension. Based in the Hobart CBD, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-performing team supporting capital program reporting, financial compliance, and key business services functions.

Your new role 
In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting financial reporting activities, with a particular focus on fixed asset accounting, reconciliations, and reporting. You will be responsible for coordinating and analysing financial data across capital programs and projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards. The role will also involve preparing reports for senior stakeholders, supporting audit processes, and maintaining asset data integrity across financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support capital program reporting, including analysis of project and program financial data
  • Undertake complex reconciliations and maintain fixed asset registers
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic and annual financial statements
  • Provide reporting and insights to senior stakeholders and support decision-making processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and audit requirements
What you'll need to succeed 
Key Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in asset accounting / fixed asset reporting (essential)
  • Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
  • Experience working within structured or regulated environments
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
