Accountant / Bookkeeper (Part-Time, 24 hrs/week)

On-site | Monday–Friday | Flexible Hours | Private Club | $50 per hour

We are looking for a detail driven, organised, and personable Accountant/Bookkeeper to join the team at our private members’ club in Hobart. This is a permanent part‑time, on‑site role offering 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and there is flexibility to work either 3 x 8 hour or 4 x 6 hour days.

About the Role

You’ll be the financial backbone of our club’s day to day operations, handling a blend of bookkeeping and accounting tasks. This role suits someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in accuracy, and appreciates a friendly, member focused workplace. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience, an eye for detail, excellent communication and organisational skills, and be a team player. Good Microsoft Excel skills are required.

Accounting experience working in a hospitality operation is desirable but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable

  • Posting and allocating members' subscription and house account payments

  • Preparing and issuing monthly statements to members

  • Monitoring outstanding balances and following up on overdue accounts

  • Process payroll and maintain employee records and contracts

  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare monthly financial reports

  • Maintain the general ledger, budget and cash flow forecasts

  • Support the Manager and Committee with financial insights and reporting

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards

  • Assist with annual audits and year end processes

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in accounting and bookkeeping (club or hospitality experience preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of Xero accounting software

  • Knowledge of SwiftPOS back office and membership software an advantage

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

  • High level IT skills utilising the Microsoft suite advantageous

  • Demonstrates a customer-focused mindset and approach

  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality

  • A friendly, professional manner and willingness to be part of a small team
