Accountant / Bookkeeper (Part-Time, 24 hrs/week)
On-site | Monday–Friday | Flexible Hours | Private Club | $50 per hour
We are looking for a detail driven, organised, and personable Accountant/Bookkeeper to join the team at our private members’ club in Hobart. This is a permanent part‑time, on‑site role offering 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and there is flexibility to work either 3 x 8 hour or 4 x 6 hour days.
About the Role
You’ll be the financial backbone of our club’s day to day operations, handling a blend of bookkeeping and accounting tasks. This role suits someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in accuracy, and appreciates a friendly, member focused workplace. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience, an eye for detail, excellent communication and organisational skills, and be a team player. Good Microsoft Excel skills are required.
Accounting experience working in a hospitality operation is desirable but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Posting and allocating members' subscription and house account payments
Preparing and issuing monthly statements to members
Monitoring outstanding balances and following up on overdue accounts
Process payroll and maintain employee records and contracts
Reconcile bank accounts and prepare monthly financial reports
Maintain the general ledger, budget and cash flow forecasts
Support the Manager and Committee with financial insights and reporting
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards
Assist with annual audits and year end processes
What We’re Looking For
Experience in accounting and bookkeeping (club or hospitality experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of Xero accounting software
Knowledge of SwiftPOS back office and membership software an advantage
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
High level IT skills utilising the Microsoft suite advantageous
Demonstrates a customer-focused mindset and approach
Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
A friendly, professional manner and willingness to be part of a small team
